Teacher candidates of the Cedarville University teacher education program must demonstrate mastery of basic skills to be part of the Teacher 教育 Program.

练习案例/核心考试 — The Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators measure academic skills in reading, 写作, 和数学. They were designed to provide comprehensive assessments that measure the skills and content knowledge of candidates entering a teacher education program. The Cedarville University School of 教育 uses the Praxis CASE/CORE exams to evaluate individuals for entry into the teacher education program. The assessments are to be completed during the first year as an education major.

行为/坐豁免: Teacher candidates may be exempt from taking the Praxis CASE/CORE tests based on ACT or SAT scores.  The SAT and/or ACT exemption requirements are:

  • ACT Math sub score > 21 or SAT Math sub score > 530
  • ACT Reading sub score > 21; or SAT Reading sub score > 550
  • ACT Writing sub score > 7; or SAT Writing sub score > 550

建造- 1800 数学原理1: This course may be waived with an ACT Math subscore of 23 or higher or SAT Quantitative subscore of 570 or higher.

许可考试 — The Ohio Assessments for Educators (OAE) are aligned to state standards and include Professional Knowledge Assessments and Content exams that are required for educator certification by the state of Ohio. 认证 exams for the Multi-Age Spanish 教育 licensure are provided by ACTFL and include two components: the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and the Writing Proficiency Test (WPT). Teacher are to complete the required 许可考试 during their senior year once their training and coursework has been completed.

Teacher candidates who successfully complete the Cedarville University Teacher 教育 Program, 许可考试, application to the state of Ohio, and who have been awarded a degree by Cedarville University will obtain licensure in the state of Ohio. They are also eligible to apply for Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) certification. Cedarville University’s School of 教育 licensure staff will guide teacher candidates through the licensure process during their final 学期.

State of Ohio Resident Educator License – Teacher candidates will receive their four-year Resident Educator License from the state of Ohio approximately six weeks after graduation.

俄亥俄州的执照 may be transferred to any state within the United States, providing all requirements are met for that state. In many cases, students must meet additional requirements (such as additional 许可考试) to obtain licensure for those states. Information regarding each state’s requirements can be found on that state’s Department of 教育 website. It is important to note that state requirements for licensure transfer often change and information for license transfer should be researched within the year of transfer.

Association of Christian Schools International Certificate (ACSI)

Upon successful completion of the Teacher 教育 Program and the Bible minor, teacher candidates at Cedarville University are eligible to apply for ACSI certification. Christian and international schools recognize this certification in the specific 许可程序. ACSI certificates are valid for five years and may be renewed by the student at 美国消费者.org

During the teacher candidate’s senior year in the Cedarville University Teacher 教育 Program, candidates can meet individually with the School of 教育 staff, who will assist them in the licensure application and transferring process. 候选人 are welcome at any time to inquire about the licensure process with School of 教育 staff, but the licensure application and transfer process cannot begin until the candidate has graduated from the Cedarville University Teacher 教育 Program.
